Job Description

The position is located in the Computing unit, which is one of the units of the Faculty of Information Technology and Communication, alongside electrical engineering, languages and communication sciences. The Computing unit provides extensive teaching across campus and faculty boundaries. The teaching strategy emphasizes competence and learner-centricity, and we provide teaching for degree, open and continuous learning students. We are developing the networking of teaching for time- and place-independent learning, and we invest in personal encounters with students by automating routine teaching tasks. The university emphasizes teaching that supports pedagogical well-being, and primarily in the bachelor's phase, learning is guided to take place on campuses. Job Description The task of the university teacher of gamification is to participate primarily in the implementation of gamification teaching in both Finnish and English. In addition to basic, subject and advanced studies in the field, teaching responsibilities also include other tasks, e.g. related to international master's programs, such as supervising theses and teacher tutoring. The task of the university teacher is also to develop teaching based on research and to bring gamification as part of the organization of teaching. Work tasks also include the preparation of accessible teaching materials, the preparation of automated tasks and the development of individual teaching arrangements. Work tasks are located on the Tampere campuses. Requirements The person selected for the university teacher position is required to have: - a suitable higher university degree - good teaching skills - experience in teaching work - good skills in Finnish and English In addition, the following are considered an advantage: - experience in the field of gamification - experience in teaching courses with large numbers of students, hundreds or thousands - experience in preparing teaching materials - guidance experience and pedagogical studies - good teamwork skills - evidence of research activity - postgraduate studies or a suitable doctoral degree and scientific publications - experience in social interaction - research interests related to gamification or gameful realities. We Offer The position will be filled as a permanent contract starting 1.10.2026 or by agreement. The place of work is Tampere. A probationary period according to the Employment Contracts Act applies to the position. The salary for the position is determined by the salary system for research and teaching staff of universities. The university teacher position is placed at demand level OV 5–6. In addition, a salary component based on personal performance at work is paid. Typically, the starting salary for a university teacher is about €4000-4200/month.
