Midwife - Etelä-Savon hyvinvointialue - Mikkeli, Finland

The wellbeing services county of South Savo (Eloisa) is seeking two (2) skilled and motivated midwives for the Maternity Unit in Mikkeli for a fixed-term employment contract starting August 24, 2026, or by agreement. As a midwife, you will be responsible for the holistic care of women in labor and their families during the different stages of childbirth, as well as postpartum care. Your duties include, among others: - Care and support of women during childbirth - Care of newborns - Guidance and counseling for families - Multidisciplinary cooperation with physicians and other healthcare staff - Emergency gynecological patients The work is based on a three-shift rotation. Approximately 700 births are handled annually at the Eloisa wellbeing services county maternity unit. The Seri support center operates in connection with the maternity unit. Eligibility requirements include a university of applied sciences degree in midwifery or a previous college-level degree, as well as legalization in accordance with the Act on Health Care Professionals (559/94). Experience working in a delivery room is considered an advantage. Additionally, sufficient oral and written proficiency in Finnish is required for the performance of the duties. The position requires vaccination protection as required by Section 48 of the Communicable Diseases Act and a health certificate regarding respiratory tuberculosis as per Section 55.
