We are looking for a student-centered study counselor who sees the current curriculum as an opportunity to implement flexible and diverse learning arrangements. You will be part of a well-functioning study counseling team, which includes two full-time study counselors besides the selected candidate, with established structures that are flexible and eager to develop new initiatives. The counselor's job description includes guidance for students in grades 6-9. The working hours for the selected counselor are approximately 65% of full-time. We hope the candidate will have an inspiring approach to working with students. Guidance plays a significant role in the school's activities at Länsimäki School. The counselor joining the team will participate in activities such as group formation and elective fair organization. Additionally, the selected candidate will have the opportunity to join the Vantaa city-level study counselor community, which offers support and warm encouragement. All expertise is shared among several coordinating study counselors. TEPPO (work-based teaching) is part of our established school activities. Länsimäki School is a very interesting and diverse guidance environment where you can work with your personality. Students are very open to guidance, and the work community and principal team support the counselor's work. Länsimäki School is a local school in the Länsimäki, Rajakylä, and Vaarala areas, with approximately 700 students in grades 5-9 during the 2026-2027 school year. Fifth and sixth graders mainly study with their classroom teacher, while grades 7-9 are in a subject teacher system. Our school also has various small groups. Language awareness, inclusivity, and student-centeredness are the guiding principles of our activities. Our students are taught and cared for by 63 teachers and 19 school assistants/nurses. Additionally, a school coach, student welfare staff, school youth workers, multilingual guides, and all support service personnel work for student well-being. We are a ProSchool and collaborate closely with local actors. Länsi is a gem of eastern Vantaa. Our school community is creative and solution-oriented.
