Job Description

Hervantajärvi is a new unit opening in the fall that provides enhanced round-the-clock residential services for adults with intellectual disabilities requiring special support. The client groups consist of three home groups of four people each, on two different floors. Our clients may have features of autism spectrum disorder and need psychosocial support, so the work emphasizes multidisciplinary skills, interaction skills, proactive approach, and individual encounters. The work team includes practical nurses, a nurse, a guide with a university of applied sciences degree, a responsible guide, and a supervisor. As a Care Assistant, your tasks mainly include: - Domestic tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and meal services - Making meal and logistics orders - Working alongside practical nurses in various daily activities and basic care for clients, supporting clients in outdoor activities and other hobbies - Making necessary entries in client and patient information systems - Using alternative communication methods and managing plain language. What skills and experience are needed for the role? - Suitable education (practical nurse qualification) - Hygiene passport - Interest in working with adults with intellectual disabilities requiring special support and good stress tolerance - Experience in catering services - Knowledge of special diets and cooking skills, as the unit offers homemade meals for clients when possible - Supportive and inclusive approach to clients with intellectual disabilities and good digital skills. The start date for a permanent position is 1 September 2026 or as agreed. The position is subject to a six-month trial period. The working hours are full-time, averaging 38 hours and 15 minutes per week, including morning and evening shifts. The selected candidate must have valid vaccination protection according to the Infectious Diseases Act (1227/2016) section 48. Before starting, the candidate must present a criminal record extract according to section 6, paragraph 4 of the Criminal Records Act. We plan to hold group interviews on 2-3 July 2026, in the mornings and afternoons from 9:00 to 10:30 and 12:00 to 13:30. We will contact the shortlisted applicants personally. Together, we aim to offer clients a diverse and meaningful everyday life, where the client is the expert of their own life.
