Job Description

The primary work area is the Youth Services in the Keskusta region and the new Youth Center Saima 6 youth room. The responsibilities of a youth worker include guiding and educating young people, leading groups, planning and implementing activity evenings and themed events together with the team, and participating in multidisciplinary network work in the Keskusta area. The client groups at the youth center are 4th-6th graders, middle school-aged youth, and older youth. We expect the applicant to be of legal age and comfortable with themselves — youth work is "adult work." The job requires the ability to meet young people as a safe adult and good interaction and engagement skills. You should have a positive and proactive attitude, teamwork skills, and initiative. We hope you have experience working with youth in municipal youth work and a secondary education degree in youth work or a community pedagogy degree. Versatile youth work skills and experience with open youth centers or cultural youth work are considered an advantage. We offer you the opportunity to use your strengths and skills. You will also receive support and coaching from other team members. During team meetings, you can exchange ideas and create a new youth center culture together with the team. The work also involves organizing various events, holiday activities, trips, and camps. All youth service employees participate in joint development. To support well-being, we offer Edenred staff benefits, including sports, culture, and health benefits. You are also entitled to a company travel card and can use Mehiläinen occupational health services. The position is permanent with a 6-month trial period. The employment begins on 10.8.2026. The youth worker's salary is €2683.56/month and the working hours are 38.25 hours/week. The working hours vary between 8 am and 10 pm, mainly in the evenings on weekdays, and occasionally on Saturdays. Since the work involves children and youth, we will check a criminal background report before employment. Interviews will be held on-site in Lahti on June 15 and 16 at Saima 6. Please submit your application via Kuntarekry by 3.6.2026 at 15:00.
