Eltel's Power Transmission and Renewables business unit is now seeking a permanent Principal Designer for the Substations unit to support a growing project portfolio involving substations and industrial environments. Your team operates in Pirkkala, Espoo, and Vaasa, but you can work flexibly from other Eltel locations or remotely. What is the job about? As a Principal Designer, you will be responsible for managing the overall scope of designated projects from preliminary design to delivery. Your role includes guiding subcontractors or internal design teams and reviewing design documents. You will act as an expert within the team, ensuring that plans comply with regulations, as well as technical and functional requirements. You will assist with project scheduling. Preliminary design of substations is a key part of the role, involving technical specifications and initial plans that guide the entire project. Your work will focus on technical coordination and communication between different stakeholders — although you may also participate in the design yourself if desired. Projects are long-term and large-scale; you will typically be responsible for 1–2 projects at a time. We are looking for someone with previous experience in design and project management tasks, who now wants to utilize their skills as a Principal Designer. We prefer candidates with prior experience in preliminary design of substations, with strong technical understanding, the ability to grasp essential aspects, and confidence in managing the process. We hope you are self-driven and proactive in advancing tasks.
