Job Description

At Jyväskylä Youth Association, we offer a position as an afternoon supervisor at Norssi's After-School Care at Jyväskylä Normal School, perfect for those interested in working with school-aged children and providing them with diverse activities after school. Norssi's After-School Care offers diverse leisure activities for 1st and 2nd grade students, such as arts and crafts, outdoor activities, and sports. About 80 children participate in the program, divided into two groups: Norssi's 1st after-school group (1st graders) and Norssi's 2nd after-school group (2nd graders). Both groups include some children requiring special attention. The groups operate within the school premises. The activity hours are on weekdays approximately from 12:00 to 16:30. The program is coordinated by the City of Jyväskylä. The diverse tasks of the afternoon supervisor include planning activities and leading clubs, such as arts and crafts, outdoor activities, sports, and cooking clubs, as well as serving snacks, helping with homework, and being a game and conversation partner for children after a long school day. We also guide children to attend their own clubs and hobbies outside school. The job involves cooperation with children's guardians, school staff, and the other after-school group, as well as with other partners. Number of positions supported by employment subsidy: 3 persons. Duration of employment: According to agreement, during the spring and autumn semesters from August 10, 2026, to June 4, 2027. Working hours: Weekdays approximately from 11:30 to 16:30. According to agreement, 4-5 hours per day / 20-25 hours per week. Additional notes: Applicants must present a criminal record extract (valid for over 3 months) before starting the trial period, as required for working with children.
