University Lecturer (Gamification) - Tampereen yliopisto - Tampere, Finland

The University of Tampere and Tampere University of Applied Sciences form Finland's second largest multidisciplinary, inspiring, and impactful research and learning community. Our core expertise areas are technology, health, and society. We are currently recruiting a university lecturer in gamification for a permanent position. The role is based in the Department of Computer Science, which is part of the Faculty of Information Technology and Communication, alongside electrical engineering, languages, and communication sciences. The department offers extensive teaching across campuses and faculties, emphasizing competence- and learner-centeredness, and provides education for degree, open, and continuing learners. We develop online teaching for time- and place-independent learning, and focus on personal student encounters by automating routine teaching tasks. The university emphasizes pedagogical well-being and primarily guides learning at the bachelor level on campuses. The university lecturer in gamification will primarily participate in teaching gamification courses in Finnish and English, including basic, intermediate, and advanced studies, as well as supervising theses and tutoring in international master's programs. The role also involves developing research-based teaching and integrating gamification into teaching practices, creating accessible teaching materials, automating tasks, and developing individual teaching arrangements. The work is located at Tampere campuses. The position requires a suitable higher university degree, good teaching skills, teaching experience, proficiency in Finnish and English, and advantages include experience in gamification, large course teaching, material creation, supervision, pedagogical studies, teamwork skills, research activity, doctoral studies or equivalent, societal interaction experience, and research interests related to gamification or gameful realities. The position is filled from October 1, 2026, or as agreed, with a salary level of OV 5–6, starting around €4000–€4200/month, with potential for higher based on experience.
