Safety Equipment Supervisor, Railway Maintenance KP12 (Northern Finland) - Destia Oy - Remote - Global

Are you interested in ensuring that train traffic in Northern Finland operates safely every day of the year? We are looking for a safety equipment supervisor for Destia's Railway Services in maintenance area 12. In this role, you will be responsible for leading maintenance, fault repairs, and installation work of safety devices in an area that handles daily passenger traffic, industrial transports, and important connections for Lapland tourism. Maintenance area 12 is the northernmost railway maintenance area in Finland, covering from Oulu through Kemi and Rovaniemi to Kolari and Kemijärvi. Our work is visible daily to thousands of train passengers, industrial transports, and Lapland tourism. The reliability of safety devices is a key part of safe and smooth train traffic. Destia will start maintenance of area 12 on 1.11.2026. We are building the future maintenance organization and are looking for new professionals to join this long-term and meaningful work. What kind of role and team will you join? As a safety equipment supervisor, you will oversee daily maintenance, plan work, and coordinate resources. You will ensure inspections, maintenance, fault repairs, and other maintenance tasks are carried out safely, with quality, and on schedule. Your key responsibilities include: Leading maintenance and fault repair of safety devices, daily supervision of installers and subcontractors, planning, scheduling, and resourcing work, ensuring safety, quality, and compliance with authorities, managing faults and disturbances, organizing corrective actions, collaborating with clients and stakeholders, participating in maintenance on-call and fault repair readiness. You will work as part of a skilled safety equipment team with installers, supervisors, and experts. Your workplace can be in Kemi or Rovaniemi. This is not a project work but a long-term maintenance task. The employment is permanent and begins as agreed, no later than 1.11.2026. To succeed in this role, you need: a safe and responsible work approach, electrical, automation, or other suitable technical education, experience in railway safety device maintenance or construction, experience in supervisory tasks or readiness to take on supervisory responsibility, ability to lead people and organize daily operations, good cooperation and communication skills, a driving license, readiness to participate in on-call duties. We especially value qualifications as a safety device installer, railway work supervisor, and experience in safety device maintenance. You will succeed when you operate systematically, make decisions even in disturbances, and want your team to succeed safely and with quality. A security clearance will be conducted for the selected person. The role requires a psychological suitability assessment and health check with drug testing.
