Job Description
As a floating early childhood education assistant, you will substitute as needed in various groups within our unit and, if necessary, in other day care centres in the Tapiola area. We hope that you adapt easily to different groups, are genuinely present for the children, and utilize your own strengths when working with children of different ages. Metsola has six groups for children aged 0-5. Jousenkaari has six groups for children aged 0-6, one of which is our preschool group operating in the Jousenkaari school premises. Both of our day care centres are located in Tapiola, Espoo, along excellent public transport links. We have excellent facilities for group activities and great outdoor and sports opportunities nearby! The work communities at Metsola and Jousenkaari consist of a large number of professionals, both experienced veterans and those at the beginning of their careers. We are a humorous, development-oriented, and supportive group with plenty of joy and laughter. We value each other's strengths! The Metsola and Jousenkaari unit utilizes an assistant director model that has received much praise in Espoo, ensuring better support from supervisors for their staff. The assistant director does not work in a group but is full-time in supervisory duties. Your supervisor will always be there to support you, present in everyday life, and focused on positive leadership and staff well-being. At the suggestion of the staff, the union has also awarded them as a Diamond Leader. We value a sensitive and warm way of working, as we meet every child as an individual and focus on open interaction with families. Additionally, we value versatile expertise, and many types of work experience are beneficial in this role. You may also be a career changer; we orient all our employees to their duties. We are very happy to support the development of your skills and enable degree studies alongside work. Workplace name and address: Jousenkaaren päiväkoti, Jousenjänne 1, 02110 Espoo Working hours: 38 h 15 min/week The position is fixed-term from 17.8.2026 to 31.5.2027. Eligibility requirement: Eligibility in accordance with the Early Childhood Education Act (540/2018, Section 28, Decree 753/2018 Sections 3 and 4). A vocational qualification in education and guidance, a vocational qualification in social and health care, or another equivalent degree that includes or has been supplemented with sufficiently extensive modules in childcare, education, and teaching. E.g., childcare worker, day care teacher, and practical nurse (education program for the care and education of children and youth). The person selected for the position must present a criminal record extract as referred to in Section 6.2 of the Criminal Records Act. The Communicable Diseases Act requires the clarification of tuberculosis infection risk for those working with children under school age. We value the ability to meet children and their parents individually, respectfully, and sensitively. We also value good teamwork skills and enthusiasm for developing our day care operations.
