Job Description

Vantaa City, Education and Learning, Basic Education Sotunki School Sotungintie 19, 01200, Vantaa Employment duration: Fixed-term 01.08.2026 - 31.07.2027 Hello, enthusiastic primary school teacher! Welcome to our excellent team working for the benefit of our students! We are currently seeking a primary school teacher for Sotunki School, who will work in preparatory education, in the Flexible Progression Group (JouJa). JouJa groups do not operate within Sotunki School. The work location for the fall is still to be confirmed but will be decided soon. Workplace description: The Flexible Progression (JouJa) students are recent immigrants to Finland, in the final stage of basic education. JouJa teaching is organized under Sotunki School but the groups are located at a different site, which will be confirmed during the spring. The goal of JouJa education is to enable recently arrived young people to complete basic education flexibly and prepare for further studies. Successful JouJa teaching requires close cooperation with guardians, basic education, Vantaa Adult Education, and Varian. The group has its own student counselor two days a week. Main objectives for students include achieving sufficient Finnish language skills, strengthening skills in other subjects of basic education, and learning the language of instruction. Additionally, the aim is to familiarize students with vocational training environments, TUVA cooperation, and diverse ways to explore further education and employment. Job description: We are now looking for a child welfare-oriented primary school teacher for a fixed-term, full-time teaching position starting 1.8.2026. The teacher will instruct preparatory class students in the upcoming school year. The work includes educational and care situations, planning tasks, and multidisciplinary teamwork around various themes. A teaching assistant will also work part-time in the classroom. We hope you can consider different learners and learning environments in your teaching and are interested in engaging with young people outside the classroom. We also value the ability to promote community and participation among children and staff, as well as a proactive work attitude. We expect the teacher to provide children with a fair, caring, and safe growth environment. Good collaboration skills and the ability to teach students with support needs are also required. What we offer: Our colleagues will support you during the school year. You will be part of a community where everyone can utilize their strengths in teaching and school development. We value your expertise and encourage you to maintain and develop your professional skills. We are a strongly supportive, close-knit community. Our school culture emphasizes helping each other and sharing expertise to be stronger together. We have clear goals and a shared leadership model. We develop our daily routines together, aiming for flexible teaching arrangements, well-being students, and staff satisfaction. We are committed to promoting equality and diversity in our community. We want to employ professionals of different ages, genders, and backgrounds, including various linguistic, cultural, and minority groups. More information and recruitment process: Preparatory class teachers may receive a 200-euro salary supplement. Interviews may be conducted during the application period. Why choose Vantaa?
