Job Description
The Kotka Education Department is seeking a full-time adult high school teacher for a permanent position, teaching mathematics and physics, to be filled by August 1, 2026. The initial placement is at Kotka Adult High School, which operates in shared premises with Kotka Lyseo on Kotkansaari. The adult high school offers high school courses and basic education for adults as day programs. The open position is in basic education for adults, with an emphasis on teaching mathematics. There may also be opportunities to teach some basic science courses. In the future, there may be evening classes for high school studies. We are looking for an enthusiastic, development-oriented, and cooperative teacher with good teamwork and teaching skills and a desire to learn new things. We value the ability to work well with people from diverse backgrounds. The candidate should be willing to develop and implement flexible teaching arrangements and collaborate across subject boundaries in accordance with the curriculum objectives. It is essential that the applicant is prepared to teach students from different linguistic and cultural backgrounds. Qualifications are determined according to the decree on the qualifications of education personnel (No. 986/98). Certificates demonstrating qualifications will be verified during the possible interview. The selected candidate must provide a satisfactory health statement and a criminal background check related to working with children before the appointment is confirmed. The position is subject to a six (6) month probation period. Salary is according to the municipal collective agreement for the education sector. The teacher’s task-specific salary in Kotka Education Department is €3,671.39/month, excluding possible overtime and annual supplements.
