Full-time Special Education Teacher at Lehtikangas School - Kajaanin kaupunki - Kajaani, Finland

The City of Kajaani is seeking a full-time special education teacher for a fixed-term position from August 1, 2026, to July 31, 2027. We are looking for a special education teacher for a diverse and large comprehensive school. The focus of special education in this role is on middle school and 6th-grade primary school students. Lehtikangas School, built in 2017, has well-maintained, modern, and functional facilities and equipment. The school operates in a multi-purpose building that also includes a library and a kindergarten. Next academic year, the school will have over 900 students, as students from the nearby Soidinsuo School will transfer to Lehtikangas due to school closure. In addition to general education classes, the school has diverse special classes and sports-oriented special classes for upper grades. We expect good collaboration and organizational skills, proficiency in managing digital learning environments, and a proactive work attitude. Experience in multidisciplinary cooperation with various networks and the ability to work independently are valued. The ability to collaborate with multiple teachers and adapt to different teaching situations in various ways is also appreciated. Salary is in accordance with OVTES. The qualification requirement is a valid special education teacher qualification (as per the decree on qualification requirements for teaching staff, no. 986/1998). A primary school teacher qualification is not required for this position. The selected candidate must meet the qualification requirements by the end of the application period. Proof of qualifications will be checked during the possible interview. If qualified applicants are not available, other applicants will be considered. Priority in filling the position will be given to laid-off employees and those under work suspension in Kajaani, provided they meet the qualification criteria. The city also offers music, physical education, and mathematics classes, as well as various specializations and support forms, such as flexible basic education, preparatory education, and education for students with special needs, supporting individual development.
