Job Description
You will serve as a social worker responsible for children's affairs in the child protection out-of-home care in Western Turku. Your work will focus on planning client work with children, decision-making, arranging support measures, and other statutory child protection tasks. Our work community is known for its good atmosphere and low turnover. You will not be alone — you will be supported by two multidisciplinary teams, which include social workers, social counselors, family coordinators, and a lead family coordinator. Additionally, the daily work involves a family therapist, an office secretary, a chief social worker, and a service manager. The chief social worker works in the same premises and is present daily. You will have the support of a regularly meeting team, a systemic team every other week, managerial support, legal support, and group supervision. The position offers remote work options and flexible working hours. The qualification requirement for the position is a license as a social worker according to the Act on Social Welfare Professionals 817/2015. If there are no suitable applicants meeting the qualification criteria, the position can be temporarily filled for up to one year under the following conditions: - You are a social work student who has successfully completed basic and intermediate social work studies and practical training. - You have a degree in social services or a relevant higher education degree in social sciences, which includes or is supplemented by basic and intermediate social work studies and practical training. Language skills required are good oral and written Finnish and satisfactory oral and written Swedish. Additionally, the following are required: - Up-to-date work experience in child protection out-of-home care social work - Ability to work independently and make decisions - Understanding of legislation related to child protection (Child Welfare Act, Administrative Procedure Act, Social Welfare Act). Preferred skills include: - Good networking and teamwork skills - Good interpersonal and communication skills - Ability to work with vulnerable families and children - Solution-focused approach and ability to handle challenging situations - Driver’s license.
