Job Description

We are hiring a part-time (50%) temporary early childhood education teacher for the period from August 17, 2026, to December 31, 2026, at Eestinmetsän Daycare. Working days alternate every other week with 2 days one week and 3 days the next. Eestinmetsän Daycare is undergoing an expansion renovation, and according to current information, we will be able to move back to the renovated premises in August 2026. Currently, we are in temporary premises with four groups. In August 2026, more groups will be added once the expansion is complete. Three groups will operate entirely in the new renovated premises, and other groups have had surface renovations. The position we are hiring for will be in a 3-5-year-olds group. You will work alongside another early childhood education teacher and a child caregiver. Eestinmetsän Daycare is centrally located, making it easy to visit various nature and cultural sites. Forests are also nearby. As an early childhood education teacher, you will be responsible for planning and implementing pedagogical activities for your group in collaboration with your team. An important part of your work is also cooperation with other teachers and families. Our daycare emphasizes pedagogical skills, play, and physical activity. Our staff is united by strong professional expertise and an understanding of the significance of early childhood education work. It is important to us that children and adults feel comfortable. Additionally, a comprehensive special education teacher and a language and culture teacher are actively involved in daily activities. You will also have support from the daycare director and assistant director, who are always ready to help and support. We offer mentoring support to help you start your career as an early childhood education teacher. With the support of the mentoring group, you will become familiar with Espoo’s early childhood education and learn to recognize your strengths and skills. You will also gain elements for your professional growth and well-being at work. You will have the opportunity to discuss the joys and challenges of early career with an experienced mentor and meet other novice early childhood education teachers. Qualification requirement: Qualification according to the Finnish Act on Early Childhood Education (540/2018). Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Education, including early childhood education teacher training, or a social and health care degree (early childhood education) or an equivalent previous qualification, e.g., kindergarten teacher or social educator (Act 272/2005 and Decree 608/2005). Applicants who are about to graduate in early childhood education are also considered. The selected candidate must present a criminal record extract as required by the Criminal Records Act (6.2 §). Infectious disease law requires those working with preschool children to clarify the risk of tuberculosis transmission.
