Job Description
The Education and Training Department of the City of Kerava is hiring a fixed-term, part-time substitute teacher (native language, Tigrinya) starting from August 12, 2026. Your tasks: We are looking for an enthusiastic, development-oriented, and cooperative professional in native language instruction. The lessons are scheduled for grades 1-9. You will teach Tigrinya as a native language at various schools in Kerava for grades 1-9 and may need to move between schools on the same day. Each class group consists of students from different grade levels with varying knowledge and skills. During the 2026-2027 school year, teaching hours are 2 hours per week. Experience in similar roles, familiarity with functional teaching methods, and good ICT skills are considered advantages. Applicants should be motivated and prepared to develop inclusion and the school's culture. Success in the role requires excellent oral and written Finnish language skills. Qualifications are based on the decree on the qualifications of education personnel (986/1998). Salary and other employment terms are according to OVTES. A six-month probation period applies. If qualified candidates are not available, other applicants will be considered. The selected candidate must provide a satisfactory health certificate and a criminal record extract related to working with children, as required by law (504/2002, 770/1993, section 6, subsection 2).
