As a preschool teacher, you will be responsible for creating the operational culture and learning environment of your children's group, planning, implementing, developing, and evaluating pedagogical activities, and supporting individual learning according to the Helsinki early childhood education and pre-primary education plan, the early childhood education unit’s operational plan, and the child's Vasu. Qualifications: We require a qualification in accordance with the Early Childhood Education Act (540/2018) or a transitional provision (75 §) such as a Bachelor's degree in Education, a suitable university of applied sciences degree, or an equivalent previous qualification, e.g., kindergarten teacher or social educator (Act 272/2005 and Decree 608/2005). Recognition of foreign qualifications by the Finnish National Agency for Education also fulfills the qualification requirement. Additionally, good oral and written skills in Finnish are required. The selected person must present a valid criminal background check for working with children (504/2002). A tuberculosis clearance for working with children under school age will be checked (Communicable Diseases Act § 55). When starting a permanent employment as a preschool teacher with the City of Helsinki in 2026, a 2000 euro incentive bonus will be provided. The bonus is paid only once to the same person.
