Process industry apprenticeship operator positions

We are seeking operators for the process industry apprenticeship program (approximately 20 people) to join our unique battery chemicals production chain serving chemical plants. About half of the apprentices will be placed in metal extraction and the rest in similar roles in other departments, such as a battery chemicals plant. You will enter into a two-year fixed-term contract, and you will be paid for work days during the apprenticeship. A successful completion of the program and on-the-job learning can lead to permanent employment after the apprenticeship. The training provides a practical pathway to industrial roles and a chance to build a long-term career in a growing field. The training is delivered by OSAO. A total of 32 teaching days are scheduled, with 14–18 days on-site and 14–18 days remote; the on-site days take place at Terrafame’s industrial area or Kajaani campus of Kajaani College. Remote days are studied from home. School days (both on-site and remote) are unpaid, but you can apply for educational benefits from OSAO. The training comprises core modules (Safety in process industry, Operation and maintenance, Full process control) and optional module (Mechanical maintenance of process equipment). The new curriculum came into effect on 1.8.2026. Suitable for those at career start, exploring a new profession or planning a change of field. We expect you to be interested in industry and technology, responsible and safe in attitude, eager to learn and develop, capable of teamwork and with a positive attitude. Prior experience in industry, production or maintenance is an advantage but not required. Apprenticeship offers stable job opportunities, modern technology and a path to regular positions. Working hours are mainly 8-hour day shifts. Other working time formats may apply, such as TAM17/10h and TAM37/12h. The apprenticeship and the employment start on Monday 2.11.2026.
