The Growth and Learning Services of the City of Kuhmo is hiring a fixed-term school assistant for the period from August 10, 2026, to June 11, 2028. The school assistant position is based at Tuupala Comprehensive School, where placements are made according to the needs of students in grades 1-9. The position primarily involves craft lessons with hard materials for grades 7-9 at the start of employment. Assistance may also be provided during other lessons. In the 2026-27 school year, approximately 450 basic education students are enrolled. We hope applicants have experience working with children and young people. The role of a school assistant requires good interaction and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Qualifications include a vocational qualification as a school assistant or other suitable education. The duties include guiding and assisting students. Experience with craft machinery and occupational safety skills are considered an advantage. We are looking for a proactive and initiative-taking individual with a positive attitude, a presence and encouraging approach when working with children, and enthusiasm to be an active part of the school community. The working hours are 30 hours per week. The position is filled on a six-month probationary period. Salary is in accordance with the municipal general collective agreement (KVTES). The selected candidate must submit a valid criminal record extract related to working with children within 30 days of receiving the employment decision, in accordance with the law (504/2002).
