Job Description
South Savo Wellbeing Area Eloisa is seeking a new chief oncologist. The position is permanent and will start on August 1, 2026, or as agreed. Eloisa's oncology clinics are located in Mikkeli and Savonlinna. The population served is approximately 133,000, with just over 1,000 new cancer cases annually. We treat all types of cancer in close collaboration with the university hospital. Internal consultations within the hospital work very well. Waiting times for oncology treatment are not experienced at our hospital. Radiation therapy consultations are directed to Kuopio, Jyväskylä, and Lappeenranta, with Savonlinna also referring to Joensuu. We plan and implement extensive oncological drug treatments. The largest cancer groups are breast cancer, colorectal cancer, lung cancer, lymphomas, and melanoma. Most drug treatments are performed on an outpatient basis. In cancer patient care, we work closely with other specialties within our hospital and primary healthcare, from diagnostics to end-of-life care. Our hospital has a palliative unit and home care services. The oncology team also includes a geriatrician, and we conduct comprehensive oncogeriatric assessments for all new patients over 70 years old, based on G8 screening if necessary. As a chief physician, in addition to administrative work, you will also perform clinical patient work without on-call duties. We are looking primarily for an innovative and development-oriented person to improve the oncology services at the central hospital. We are strongly investing in tailored digital services. Working conditions are good, and the job description can be tailored to your wishes, including partial remote work, and research activities are encouraged. Our strengths include a friendly small hospital atmosphere, flexible working methods, and quick decision-making. The employer supports skill maintenance and further training. The task-specific salary is €9,772.13/month. On top of this, personal and local agreement supplements are added. We value our staff and offer comprehensive employee benefits, such as €200 for sports, culture, or well-being services. We want you to enjoy working with us and feel good. We are happy to assist with practical arrangements, such as housing. If you wish to visit your future workplace and community before making a decision, this is also possible. Qualifications include licensure and permission to work as a physician under the Health Care Professionals Act 559/94 and specialization in oncology. Administrative experience is an advantage. Proficiency in spoken and written Finnish is required for the role. The position requires vaccination against infectious diseases as per the Infectious Diseases Act §48 and a health status report regarding tuberculosis as per §55. The selected candidate must provide a health status report before appointment. A six-month probation period applies. Applications must be received by the deadline via the Kuntarekry system.
