Job Description
The municipality of Askola is seeking a fixed-term early childhood educator for the Rainbow Daycare from August 3, 2026, to July 31, 2027. Are you interested in inquiry-based learning with children? Do you want to develop and implement your skills as a professional in education and upbringing? If so, join us in Askola, in a natural environment, to implement early childhood education that promotes children's participation. Our activities emphasize play and child-centeredness, supporting holistic learning and experiences. The early childhood educator participates in planning, implementing, and evaluating pedagogically focused care, upbringing, and education in accordance with the early childhood education plan, the unit’s operational plan, and the child's early childhood education plan, together with children, guardians, and staff. The educator may also be responsible for administering medication to children as needed. Goal-oriented and planned self-evaluation of work is part of improving the quality of early childhood education, teamwork, and the work community. We require you to have the qualification for an early childhood educator according to the Early Childhood Education Act (540/2018), excellent communication skills, a flexible and positive attitude, and a solution-oriented approach. Success in the role requires good oral and written Finnish language skills. We especially value a desire to develop professionally, the ability to create a calm atmosphere in daily activities, and experience working with children. We expect you to be able to meet families and children individually and respectfully. We offer you the opportunity to influence the development and implementation of your work in a natural environment. You will have access to extensive occupational health services. Salary and other terms of employment are determined according to the municipal collective agreement (KVTES). The working hours are 38.25 hours per week, with a starting salary of €2,562.75 per month from August 1, 2026. The employment relationship includes a five (5) month probation period. The selected candidate must submit an extract from the criminal record (as per the Criminal Records Act, section 6, subsection 2) to the employer. The Infectious Diseases Act (§55) requires those working with preschool children to be screened for tuberculosis risk before starting employment.
