Job Description
The University of Turku is a world-class multidisciplinary research university offering challenging tasks and a unique perspective on Finnish and international science and education. We are currently seeking a procurement secretary for the university's financial services. The financial services of the University of Turku operate as part of the university's support services and are responsible for providing centralized financial services, advising, guiding, and training university staff in their respective areas. The permanent procurement secretary position is located within the financial services procurement team (procurement services). The work begins on 1 September 2026 or as agreed. The procurement team supports the procurement process from initiation to product purchase. We manage the use, maintenance, and development of university-level ordering systems, as well as their instructions and user training. We assist units with order placement and collaborate with various stakeholders, such as suppliers. The procurement team also maintains the university's insurance and leasing portfolios. Job Description In this role, you will participate centrally in the university's procurement-to-payment process. Tasks include making procurements and processing orders in the university's UTUshop online store. Procurement and UTUshop involve various maintenance and reporting tasks, and you will be responsible for some financial tasks related to procurements. You will act as a buyer within the university's centralized services and provide expertise for various procurement needs of the university community. You will handle incoming shipments and manage their internal logistics. You will serve as a strong link between the university community and product suppliers, ensuring smooth daily operations of procurements. Your duties also include collaborating with various stakeholders, customer service and advice, development of procurement processes, supplier cooperation, and other procurement and financial administration tasks. The work is primarily performed from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on-site at the Turku campus, with partial remote work possible in accordance with university guidelines. You will use Finnish and English fluently. Who we are looking for You have relevant education and work experience in procurement tasks. A background in finance and familiarity with financial matters support your work. You work with a professional service attitude, feel comfortable in an expert community, and possess good cooperation and communication skills. You are good at organizing your time, even in changing daily situations, and work proactively, developing your own work. Experience with financial management systems (e.g., SAP) and/or ordering and inventory systems (e.g., SAP-MM, online store platforms), experience as a buyer, and knowledge of public administration/higher education procurement or financial matters are considered advantages. The level of the position is 6. Additionally, a performance-based salary component is paid. The starting salary, depending on experience and skills, is between 2544.16 and 2856.18 euros/month. A six-month trial period applies to the position.
