Job Description
Kuhmo is the most forest-centric city in Finland, known for its high-quality music and literary culture, especially chamber music and Kalevala, as well as a community-oriented lifestyle that values sharing, expertise, and quality. In the growth and learning services area of Kuhmo city, two temporary positions for school assistants are available from August 10, 2026, to June 13, 2027. The work tasks for the school assistants are based at Tuupala Comprehensive School, where placements are made according to the needs of students in grades 1-9. At the beginning of the 2026-27 school year, the placement will be in a special class. Next fall, approximately 450 basic education students will attend Tuupala Comprehensive School. We hope applicants have experience working with children and young people. The role of a school assistant requires good interaction and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work in a team, with a partner, and independently. The qualification requirement is a social and health care qualification (practical nurse), a professional qualification as a school assistant, or other suitable education. Duties include guiding and supporting students, teamwork with teachers and other assistants, transporting and receiving taxi-transported students, participating in excursions, supervising meals and recesses, and guiding morning and afternoon activities. We are looking for an assistant with a proactive and energetic approach, a present and encouraging attitude towards children, and enthusiasm to be an active part of the school community. The working hours are 30 hours per week. The position is filled on a five-month probationary period. Salary is in accordance with the municipal general collective agreement (KVTES). The selected candidate must submit a valid criminal record extract related to working with children within 30 days of receiving the employment decision, in accordance with the Act 504/2002.
