Job Description
This position is part of the government's goal to hire 500 young people into fixed-term employment relationships during 2026. The tasks are especially intended for individuals aged 18–25 seeking their first job from the public sector. Mikkeli Prison is a 110-bed closed prison functioning as an investigation and enforcement prison, located right in the center of Mikkeli. The prison has a profile focused on sexual offenses and short-term prisoners. Approximately 77 people work at Mikkeli Prison. As a leisure activities instructor, you will be involved in rehabilitative activities with inmates and responsible for various leisure activities, including planning, implementation, and supervision, either independently or with a partner. The goal of the instructor's work is to promote and support a drug-free and healthy lifestyle and to help inmates move towards a crime-free life. The role emphasizes active face-to-face work with inmates. You will be responsible for services such as the inmates' library services, leisure crafts, music, and life skills guidance. Interpersonal skills are central as you motivate, support, and encourage inmates in their daily lives.
