Job Description
The City of Kemi's Welfare Department, Children's and Youth Services, is offering a temporary position for a special class teacher in rehabilitative education, from August 1, 2026, to July 31, 2027. The teaching load is 22 hours per week. The students are in grades 7-9. The class has a special class teacher and a school counselor as colleagues, and some lessons are led by a care supervisor. The group consists of approximately 10 students. The temporary position is funded by project grants. Hepola School is a comprehensive school with about 300 students and 45 staff members. The school also has three special classes for rehabilitative education and two for extended (early) compulsory education, as well as Hepola Daycare and Siipi Youth Center. Our operational philosophy is "Learning Pathways Individually and Together from One to Nine." The school holds an ISO 14001:2015 environmental certificate, implementing sustainable development principles. Additionally, the school has an ISO 45001:2018 health and safety certificate and a LUMA STEAM certificate. We have developed a PersonalTrainer model to improve the well-being of children and youth, which has been adopted nationally. The school also actively participates in student and eco-student councils. We are seeking a student-centered professional and a good team player to join our school. We require commitment to the school's shared values and educational practices, good collaboration skills, student-centeredness, solution orientation, and a holistic approach to students, the classroom, and classroom work. We are a development-oriented and innovative work community. We continuously develop school practices to achieve better learning outcomes. We implement continuous improvement of daily routines (lean model). We are involved in children's and youth's lifestyle guidance development within the Lapland Welfare Area. Qualifications are based on the Decree on Qualifications for Teaching Staff (986/1998). Original degree certificates must be presented during the interview if applicable. The selected candidate must present a criminal record extract as per the Act on Background Checks for Persons Working with Children (504/2022) and a certificate of health. The salary for this position is €3,460.90 plus VAT €168.66. Employment terms and working hours are determined according to OVTES. The position is subject to a six (6) month probationary period.
