Conservation Specialist, Location Negotiable - Metsähallitus - Remote - Global

We are seeking a Conservation Specialist for a permanent position in Metsähallitus' Nature Services, Nature Values unit, Maaluontotietotiimi. The role involves collecting and maintaining natural data on protected and wilderness areas, promoting species and habitat protection, and process management of nature type data production. Tasks include planning, guiding, and training inventors, developing new systems and methods, and collaborating with service owners. Fieldwork includes nature type inventories, with travel to different locations, and office work during winter. The role may also include assessments of Natura areas, environmental advocacy, and species inventories, and participation in the ARVO information system renewal. The ideal candidate has a relevant higher education degree, good knowledge of nature types (especially Natura types), spatial data skills, process management ability, initiative, teamwork skills, good outdoor skills, a B driving license, and fluent Finnish. Experience in similar roles, remote sensing, species identification, NATA, and environmental data are advantageous.
