We are seeking a social counselor for a permanent position in the social work and social guidance service area at the adult social work unit. The work begins according to agreement. The social counselor works in the needs assessment team, where tasks include receiving notifications under the Social Welfare Act, processing notifications, and preparing service needs assessments. The social counselor makes decisions regarding social services and supplementary and preventive income support. Client cases in needs assessment are often short-term, and if a client requires longer-term support, the case is transferred to a caseworker in the social work team. The social counselor's duties include advising, guiding, and providing psychosocial support to clients in various life situations. The work is planned and goal-oriented with clients, and is carried out both at the office and in clients' homes and networks. The work involves multidisciplinary networking, social rehabilitation tasks, and guidance on housing and daily life. The social counselor also works in the adult social work telephone service and advisory services. Adult social work is characterized by active service development, especially in social rehabilitation, supported housing services based on the "Housing First" principle, structural social work, and community social work. Our services include social lending and intermediary services. We offer opportunities to learn and develop your skills. In Kajaani, adult social work allows you to help develop social services that reflect the residents' needs and influence well-being and health through structural social work. We provide comprehensive internal training, group supervision, and two well-being afternoons per year. We follow flexible working hours suitable for home and work life in the Kainuu welfare area. There is also some possibility for remote work. The adult social work includes an onboarding plan and comprehensive work instructions. We require a proactive and flexible work attitude, good organizational skills, strong communication skills, and a constructive and positive approach. Experience working with people in difficult life situations and knowledge of social rehabilitation methods are valued. The work requires mobility, so a driver’s license is essential, and the use of a personal car is possible if needed. The qualification requirement is a degree in social services (Bachelor of Social Services, AMK) in accordance with the Social Welfare Professionals Act 817/2015 (Sections 8 and 32), considering transitional provisions.
