Job Description
We are seeking a school social worker for a substitute position in student welfare services in the Haapavesi and Haapajärvi area. The work locations are Haapavesi and Oulainen. The substitute begins on August 3, 2026, and continues until June 13, 2027. As a school social worker, you will work in preschool and basic education, engaging in both individual and community-level work. The role emphasizes early support for children and young people, preventive well-being work in basic education, development of services within a multidisciplinary network, and community work within school communities. Your work is part of a multidisciplinary student welfare team. You will be supported by skilled colleagues and a supervisor, and you will have the opportunity to plan and execute your work independently. The qualification requirement is a higher education degree as specified in the Act on Social Welfare Professionals (817/2015), sections 7 or 8(1). Additionally, candidates must hold a relevant higher education degree in social work, education, or behavioral sciences. The education must include or be supplemented by 60 ECTS credits of university-level studies, which should consist of social work university courses or other higher education studies as specified in the law. The substitute position will be filled once a suitable candidate is found. The position is open for at least five calendar days following the publication of the announcement. Original diplomas and work certificates will be checked during interviews. Applicants must be registered in the register maintained by the National Supervisory Authority for Welfare and Health (Terhikki and/or Suosikki). The selected candidate must present a criminal record extract as specified in section 6(2) of the Criminal Records Act (2002/504). In fixed-term employment, a trial period of up to 6 months is applied. The trial period can be up to half of the employment duration in fixed-term contracts shorter than 12 months.
