Job Description

The Faculty of Education at the University of Turku is seeking a temporary mathematics teacher at Rauma Normal School for the period 1.8.2026 – 31.7.2027. Rauma Normal School is a practice school affiliated with the University of Turku, serving students in grades 1-9, where teacher students from the Rauma campus complete their teaching practice. The school operates as part of the Faculty of Education. Our school has approximately 320 students, about 30 teachers, and 10 other staff members. We are looking for an enthusiastic and development-oriented mathematics teacher who is passionate about their work for a fixed-term position from 1.8.2026 to 31.7.2027. More information about our school can be found at https://sites.utu.fi/rnk/ Job Description In addition to teaching duties, the mathematics teacher may be responsible for: - Supervising teaching practice - Class teacher duties - Research, experimentation, and development tasks - Possible in-service training or curriculum dissemination tasks - Tasks related to the development of teacher education - Other possible responsibilities Candidate Profile Requirements The selected candidate must have: - Qualification to teach mathematics and at least one other subject (physics, chemistry) - Good teaching skills - At least two years of full-time work experience as a mathematics teacher after qualification - Pedagogical skills in the use and development of educational technology - Cooperation and organizational skills - Readiness to participate in research, experimentation, or development activities related to the practice school Desired qualities - Ability to teach all three mathematical subjects - Innovative attitude and experience in school development work - Commitment to improving work well-being - Flexible approach to work - Evidence of professional development - Experience in handling responsibilities in a school setting We value equality and diversity in our work community and encourage qualified applicants regardless of background to apply. Salary and Trial Period The salary for the mathematics teacher position is determined according to the salary system of university practice schools and is at level 5 (3727.57 €). An additional performance-based salary component, typically 6-17%, is also paid. The position has a six-month probationary period. Before starting work, the selected candidate must present a valid criminal record extract as required by law 504/2002.
