Job Description
We are seeking a student welfare counselor for a fixed-term position from August 10, 2026, to January 8, 2027. The position is located in the Vihti area and involves preschool and basic education. The student welfare counselor is a social services professional who supports students' well-being, studying, and daily life management. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary student welfare team in close cooperation with guardians, school staff, other student welfare actors, and children and family services. The role requires the ability to work across disciplines within various networks with students of different ages and cultural backgrounds, student groups, families, and professionals from different fields. Good communication and collaboration skills, a willingness to develop one's work, flexibility, and the ability to adapt quickly to changing and unpredictable work situations are emphasized. The job also requires good organizational skills and readiness for independent social work as an expert. We are looking for a proactive professional with experience working with children, youth, and families. Interviews will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at Lohja Wellbeing Center. A 3-month probationary period applies. Suitable education for the position: Applicants must have a higher education degree in social work or social services. Alternatively, a person with a relevant higher education degree in social or educational sciences or behavioral sciences is eligible. The education must include or be supplemented by 60 ECTS credits of university-level studies, which must consist of social work university courses or studies included in the higher education degree referred to in section 8, paragraph 1 of the law. The role requires the ability to work independently and to build confidential cooperation relationships with clients and colleagues. The selected candidate must also provide a criminal record extract as required by law (504/2002) concerning working with children. Previous experience as a counselor and a YAMK degree in social work are valued.
