Lead Mechanical Engineer

Lead Mechanical Engineer position leading demanding mechanical design and development projects. You will join an experienced expert team to strengthen the growing mechanical design group. The role involves working on diverse projects related to machines, equipment, steel structures, material handling solutions or next-generation product development initiatives. As Lead Mechanical Engineer you act as the technical lead and trusted expert for customers, combining strong technical competence with practical design work and the ability to drive design packages to completion. What the role contains: technical leadership of demanding mechanical design and development projects; guiding and coordinating design packages for machines, equipment, steel structures and production solutions; evaluating design concepts, conceptualizing and making technical decisions; supporting, guiding and mentoring the design team; serving as the customer’s technical expert and presenting and justifying solutions; ensuring project schedules, resources and technical quality in coordination with the project organization; collaborating with multi-disciplinary project teams including automation, electrical, software and analytics specialists; continuously developing design processes, operating practices and technical capabilities. What kind of person we look for: experienced mechanical engineering professional with strong understanding of industrial products, structures and manufacturing methods; experience in designing demanding technical systems and willingness to take responsibility for project success and team development; ability to see the big picture, make well-founded technical decisions and communicate them clearly to both client and team; you will succeed when you have: suitable engineering or master’s degree in engineering; several years of experience in mechanical design or product development; experience in designing machines, equipment, steel structures or industrial systems; strong 3D CAD skills; understanding of manufacturability, materials science and structural solutions; experience with technical leadership of projects or guiding design teams; ability to act as a technical expert for clients; fluent in Finnish and English. Additional appreciated experiences include steel structures and welded structures; mechanical design calculation methods; product development from concept to production; international client projects; knowledge of CE marking, standards or safety requirements.
