Job Description
Are you a proactive, cooperative, and flexible optometrist who enjoys mobile work and interacting with different people? You may also be a recent graduate in optometry. Do you like varied workstations and independent work within a close team? If you nod, you might be the person we are looking for. We are seeking an optometrist for a temporary position from June 1 to October 30, 2026, for diabetic retinopathy screening imaging at HUS in the Uusimaa region. In this role, you will be responsible for taking fundus photographs and making initial assessments. You will receive comprehensive training, and previous experience in screening imaging is not required. Our optometrists visit health centers and hospitals across Uusimaa. Our fixed workstations are located at Tikkurila and Tapiola health centers. This position requires the ability to use your own car. HUS offers extensive training opportunities to support professional development. Employee benefits include annual cultural, sports, massage, and travel card benefits via ePassi (300 € in 2026), staff-rented holiday apartments, and discounts from fitness and wellness companies. We are a small and close-knit team consisting of a head nurse and six optometrists. You will mainly work in pairs, so you will not be working alone. Collaboration, flexibility, and a positive atmosphere are important to us. It is possible to take an unpaid leave during the summer of 2026. The salary for this position is €3,391 per month, with potential experience and other allowances. Kilometers driven using your own car will be reimbursed. We offer meaningful work as part of an important screening program, a clear job description, thorough onboarding, and a friendly and professional work community. Interviews will begin during the application period, and we will fill the position once a suitable candidate is found. Apply immediately. Eligibility requirements: - Degree in optometry or optometrist, with a license to practice as an optometrist. - Working in customer and patient areas requires vaccination against infectious diseases according to the Communicable Diseases Act, and health status verification for tuberculosis for those working in healthcare units. For more information about the position, contact: Irmeli Hirvelä, p. 050 427 9094.
