Job Description

The Finnish-language basic education and upper secondary education services of the City of Porvoo are seeking a special education teacher for a fixed-term position from August 10, 2026, to June 5, 2027. The placement is at Pääskytie School. Pääskytie School provides education for grades 7-9. It is located on the western shore of Porvoo, amidst a rural landscape. The school has approximately 600 students and 70 adults working with them daily. The school's operating principle is to provide high-quality education, respecting individual differences, in a modern and safe learning environment. Pääskytie School offers specialized physical education. The school leadership team includes the principal, deputy principal, and two assistant principals. Additionally, the entire staff actively participates in school development. The role of the special class teacher involves teaching in special classes for grades 7-9. The school has five special classes, and their teachers and teaching assistants work as a team. Applicants are expected to describe the following qualifications in their application: - Experience in flexible planning, implementation, and assessment of teaching - Good cooperation and interaction skills, and a solution-oriented approach - Experience in teamwork - Proficiency in inclusive teaching - Experience in co-teaching and school community development - Competence in using digital applications and learning environments relevant to the role. Selection for interviews will be based on applications. Eligibility requirements are determined according to the decree on qualifications for teaching staff (986/1998). The selected candidate must have the qualification of a special class teacher. In the absence of qualified applicants, a non-qualified candidate may be considered. Original certificates proving qualification must be presented at the interview. Salary is determined according to the municipal collective agreement for the education sector. The appointee must present a criminal record extract as required by law (504/2002, section 3) for working with children. The trial period is half the length of the employment.
