Assistant Chief Physician, Mental Health Services - Varsinais-Suomen hyvinvointialue

In the role of Assistant Chief Physician, you will have a broad impact on primary healthcare mental health services. Your work combines clinical practice, development, and expert responsibilities. The position offers an opportunity to establish effective treatment practices in a multidisciplinary environment. Your responsibilities include overseeing the guidance of doctors specializing in psychiatry, developing consultative psychiatrists' work, and supporting multidisciplinary teams in mental health and substance abuse units. Approximately 80% of your work involves patient care in the eastern region (Salo, Somero, Parainen, Kemiönsaari). You will primarily work at the new premises of the Salo mental health and substance abuse unit at the IOT campus, moving there in June 2026. Consultations with other units will mainly be conducted remotely. The IOT campus also hosts outpatient services for psychiatric specialized care and social services. We offer a responsible and impactful expert role where you can combine patient work, a consultative role, and service development. You will have the opportunity to work in new, purpose-built facilities and utilize remote consultations as part of your daily work. The position provides a broad overview of Varsa's mental health and substance abuse services and the chance to influence their development. Qualifications include licensure under the Act on Healthcare Professionals (559/94) and rights as a specialist doctor in a relevant field. Proficiency in spoken and written Finnish and satisfactory skills in spoken and written Swedish are required. Experience in leadership or development work and good Swedish language skills are considered an advantage. A psychotherapy qualification is also a plus.
