The Finnish-language adult education center in Pietarsaari is a small, agile institution that collaborates with the Swedish-language adult education center and the Wava art basic education institute. The assistant principal works as a supervisor at the adult education center, and the staff team consists of one full-time teacher, a course secretary, and several part-time teachers. Key responsibilities of the assistant principal include comprehensive course planning, personnel management, and planning related to language training for immigrants. The role requires knowledge of education and teaching administration as well as financial management. We require the principal to hold a suitable higher university degree and to have the qualifications of a principal (Decree on the Qualifications of Education Personnel 986/1998). Proficiency in Finnish, as well as fluent spoken Swedish and English, is necessary for stakeholder cooperation and collaboration with teachers and students speaking different languages.
