The youth home Avalon units are specialized child protection units for young people in need of residential care. The Avalon units are mainly aimed at 13-17-year-olds struggling with substance abuse and life management challenges. Placements are primarily long-term, and during the placement, the young person's situation is assessed comprehensively, and an appropriate rehabilitation plan is developed. In Avalon’s client guidance process, we pay particular attention to the motivation and commitment of the placed young people to rehabilitation. At Avalon, we avoid confrontation with young people, and all Avalon youth are guided through conversation and are cooperative. Young people placed in Avalon are able to reconnect with life and stop substance use, and most are discharged to their families. Incidents of violence or threats of violence are not part of our daily life at Avalon, and we work hard to maintain a positive atmosphere. We are now seeking a responsible nurse for the Hausjärvi unit for a permanent position. The work team consists of the responsible nurse, seven guides, and a pedagogical director who supports and is involved in daily activities. Avalon Youth Home is a domestically owned private company, with two owners actively involved in the daily operations of the units. The responsible nurse is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating medication management for a seven-bed unit. You will be responsible for the medication plan and the guides’ medication licenses in collaboration with a pharmacist and a doctor. The responsible nurse’s duties include assessing and coordinating young people's healthcare and specialized medical services, as well as participating in care meetings and doctor visits. Additionally, the responsible nurse participates in guiding work, which includes educational work, assessment work, mentoring, family work, documentation, and communication with various partners and networks of young people. The roles of responsible nurse and guide require a respectful attitude towards young people and families, good oral and written Finnish language skills, a driver’s license, and driving skills.
