Job Description
The City of Akaa is seeking a youth worker for a permanent position. The youth worker's tasks include demanding professional duties in youth work. Qualifications include a suitable university degree, e.g., social services or community pedagogy, or an equivalent previous college-level qualification, along with experience working with youth. Separate responsibilities of the position include youth work at the school, coordination of mobile youth work and volunteers. Additionally, the role involves youth center work and working in all activity forms together with a partner. Applicants are also expected to have experience in engaging with youth in various environments, teamwork skills, initiative, and good social skills. You should be a positive, change-oriented, humorous team player. The job requires extensive digital skills and the ability to utilize digital tools. Good Finnish language skills are necessary. The work includes evening and weekend shifts, with 3-4 evening shifts per week and occasional weekend shifts. The position requires a B driver's license and the ability to use a personal car. The selected person must provide a criminal record extract in accordance with section 6, subsection 2 of the Criminal Records Act before starting employment. Work experience gained within the municipal organization is considered an advantage. Employment terms are governed by the Municipal General Collective Agreement (KVTES). The working hours are standard hours (38.25 hours per week). Akaa City’s occupational health services are provided by Pihlajalinna. Benefits include Epassi and regular group supervision. The youth office and main youth facilities are located in Toijala, with good transportation connections. Interviews will be held on Friday, August 14, from 13:00 to 17:00. The employment begins as agreed, with a preferred start date of September 1, 2026.
