Hello, you who have worked with children and families from different language and cultural backgrounds! Come to South Helsinki to design and implement innovative and impactful models to support language learning and strengthen inclusive activity culture in early childhood education. We are hiring a second regional early childhood education S2 teacher for our community. Our region has 14 early childhood education units and seven playgrounds. There are about 2500 children in our daycares, with an average of 33% being multilingual. Regional managers and experts work together, and our strengths in staff surveys are community spirit, solution orientation, positivity, and joy of learning. As an S2 teacher, you support and guide the region's staff in planning, implementing, and evaluating language- and culture-aware activities in children’s groups, teams, work communities, and multidisciplinary networks. Observe children’s group activities and develop language and cultural pedagogy together with daycare staff in groups, small groups, and various everyday situations. Support and guide staff in building activity culture and learning environments, planning pedagogical activities, developing, implementing, and evaluating them, and supporting individual children’s learning according to Helsinki’s early childhood education and pre-primary curriculum, unit action plan, and the child's Vasu. With your colleague, as an expert, you will develop activities and their management to support the leadership of regional managers. Collaborate with the regional special education teacher and other experts, participate in student welfare work, and actively participate in the network of other Helsinki city regional S2 teachers. You are the person we are looking for if you have broad pedagogical, language, cultural, and worldview knowledge in early childhood education. Excellent communication and cooperation skills, coordination and organizational ability, and the ability to share information with staff and managers are required. We also hope you are enthusiastic about developing work and want to help develop models supporting language learning and our S2 activities. Our goal is to make S2 teaching an even more effective way to support multilingual children. You will develop activities across the region, and the ability to move between different units is required. In this role, you will do impactful work supporting language learning from the perspective of multilingual children and create effective learning environments and models. Your work is guided by Helsinki’s city strategy, early childhood education plan, pre-primary curriculum, and the plan for preparatory education for basic education.
