Job Description

We are hiring two (2) traveling early childhood education childcare workers for permanent positions and two (2) for fixed-term positions starting from 1.8.2026. Taivalkoski’s early childhood education is part of the cultural services. Our unique future strength is built on the pillars of well-being, community, sports, nature, and culture. We offer residents safe environments for growth and learning, where encounters and a sense of community are possible. A new daycare building, Pikkupeikko, was completed in March 2026, and from 1.8.2026, we will transition from group-based activities to a daycare model. Group-based activities will continue at Hutun group daycare. As a traveling childcare worker in early childhood education, you will join a creative and developing community, working with motivated colleagues who are dedicated to working with children. Your work locations will be Pikkupeikko Daycare and Hutun Group Daycare, and your role is to act as a childcare worker as part of the team covering for different staff members. Your work will be varied, and you will interact with all early childhood education groups, staff, and children. The job may include shift work, requiring readiness for evening and weekend work, as well as occasional solitary work. Use of a personal vehicle is required. We value the ability to meet children and their families individually, respectfully, and sensitively. Good teamwork skills and enthusiasm for developing our daycare operations are also appreciated. Knowledge and interest in nature education and a valid medical license are considered advantages. The minimum qualification is a basic degree in education and guidance, social and health care, or an equivalent qualification, including or supplemented with sufficiently broad studies in child care, education, and teaching (varhaiskasvatuslaki 540/2018, §28, regulation 753/2018 §§3-4). Salary is determined according to the municipal collective agreement. The standard working hours are 38.25 hours per week.
