Job Description
Kalajärvi Daycare Center's location offers a versatile opportunity to implement physical activity and outdoor pedagogy. You can access the forest directly from the yard! Kalajärvi Daycare Center moved to new premises in September 2025, and we are now looking for a warm-hearted and enthusiastic early childhood education teacher to join our team. The position for the 2026-2027 season is in pre-primary education. As an early childhood education teacher, you will be responsible, together with your team and other teachers in the work community, for planning, implementing, and evaluating high-quality pedagogy in pre-primary education, as well as working closely with parents. In collaboration with other early childhood education staff, you will ensure that our daycare has a positive atmosphere where children can grow, develop, and learn safely. Your work will also be supported by a comprehensive special education teacher. Our daycare has 11 groups for children aged 0-6 years. You will become part of a community that is building a new operational culture in wonderful, movement-inviting premises and a natural environment. We have excellent facilities for small group activities, which is one of our development targets. The daycare includes two toddler rooms, an atelier, and a large sports hall. The children will have plenty of opportunities to move! A safe and calm environment, along with warm interactions with everyone, are important values for us. You will have the opportunity to discuss the joys and challenges of the early stages of your career with an experienced mentor and meet other colleagues who are also starting as early childhood education teachers. Workplace name and address: Kalajärvi Daycare Center, Kalajärven puistotie 5, 02970 Espoo. Working hours: 38 hours 15 minutes/week. The position is permanent, starting from August 10, 2026. This workplace is accessible. Qualifications requirement: Qualification according to the Finnish Early Childhood Education Act (540/2018). Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Education, including early childhood education teacher training, or a social and health care degree (early childhood education) or an equivalent previous qualification, e.g., kindergarten teacher or social educator (Act 272/2005 and Decree 608/2005). We also consider applicants who are about to graduate in early childhood education. We value flexible working attitudes and good teamwork skills. Additionally, we require enthusiasm and motivation to develop your own skills and to create a shared work culture at the daycare. Good Finnish language skills are also required. We are looking for a person who: Works sensitively and gently with children, considers small group activities a fundamental part of daily life, has good teamwork skills and can work constructively with others, is flexible and eager to develop the new daycare with us. The selected candidate must present a criminal record extract as required by the Criminal Records Act (6.2 §). The Infectious Diseases Act requires those working with preschool children to be tested for tuberculosis risk.
