The Department of Native Languages (Kotus) operates as a division of the Finnish National Agency for Education. Its task is to promote the use of Finnish and Swedish languages in society by producing and disseminating information about these languages and their variation within Finnish culture and society. Kotus is responsible for the maintenance of national languages, providing advice, dictionary work, conducting related research, and monitoring the use and revitalization efforts of indigenous minority languages. As the head of the Department of Native Languages, you will report directly to the Director General and promote a shared operational culture by participating in the agency's management team. You will be responsible for implementing the strategy in accordance with the goal-oriented management model, effectively and successfully achieving the objectives set for the department, and continuously developing operations. You will act as a supervisor with a coaching and learning-oriented approach, taking care of staff well-being and competence. The Department of Native Languages consists of three units: - Language Maintenance Unit - Swedish Language Maintenance and Dictionary Unit - Dictionary Unit You will serve as a supervisor for the unit managers. As a leader, you will monitor the overall development of the area under your responsibility and maintain contacts with key clients and stakeholders relevant to the department.
