Job Description
Helsingin kaupungin asunnot Oy is responsible for property management, maintenance, and cleaning of Heka's properties across regions. In the Eastern area, we ensure high-quality and smooth living for 12,000 apartments. We are seeking a property caretaker for a permanent position. The duties include general property maintenance, technical tasks, outdoor area care, and minor repairs. Property caretakers are the largest and most visible group of employees at Heka. The work is people-oriented, often involving visits to residents' homes, requiring tact and a sense of humor. Each caretaker is assigned a specific area, which they become familiar with, typically consisting of residential buildings, but may also include daycares, restaurants, or service homes depending on the region. The work is primarily independent, but colleagues can always be asked for help if needed. About one-third of the work involves yard work, experiencing the seasons' changes from snow shoveling to lawn mowing. In addition to traditional tools, digital devices and systems are used. Work methods and tools are evolving, and staff can pursue training during work hours. We encourage career development within the company. The role requires basic education, a B driver's license, and basic computer skills. Experience with property maintenance machinery and several years of relevant work experience are advantageous. After gaining experience, participation in maintenance on-call duties is valued. We seek teamwork skills, a positive customer service attitude, a desire for self-improvement, and good communication skills. We offer a diverse and challenging job with opportunities for professional growth. Benefits include flexible working hours, a company bike, and various health, sports, cultural, and commuting benefits. There is also an option for a company apartment. Salary and other employment terms are based on the collective agreement of the KT sector. The minimum starting salary for this position is €2,192.05/month, with additional experience-based pay if applicable, calculated as 5% per 5 years of experience and 10% per 10 years. Start date is negotiable. For more information, contact supervisors Sami Kallio or Jouni Pettersson at email format: firstname.lastname@hekaoy.fi. Application deadline is June 14, 2026, or until a suitable candidate is found. Submit your application via the 'Apply for this position' link. Helsingin kaupungin asunnot Oy (Heka) is owned by the City of Helsinki. Heka manages approximately 55,000 rental apartments in Helsinki, making it Finland's largest housing landlord. About 15% of Helsinki residents live in Heka apartments. Nearly 700 professionals work at Heka, with the largest groups in property maintenance and cleaning. Heka is a smoke-free workplace. We value diversity and promote equality systematically and purposefully. We encourage applicants from various backgrounds to apply. Learn more about Heka at www.hekaoy.fi.
