HS Lead, Vaasa - Destia Oy - Remote - Global

We are looking for an experienced and responsible occupational safety manager (HS team leader) to lead health and safety matters in infrastructure construction projects based in Vaasa. In this role, you will play a key part in developing the construction culture, where safety is not just a goal but a way of working. You will act as both a strategic HS expert and an enabler of daily operations. You will lead the HS team on projects, advise project organizations, and ensure safety is part of everyone's daily routine from planning to execution. Your work directly influences how infrastructure is built sustainably and safely now and in the future. You will also collaborate with safety experts from other data centers. Your tasks include: leading the HS team on projects in Vaasa, developing safety culture and ensuring practical implementation, monitoring HS indicators, deviations, and improvement actions, identifying and managing safety risks, collaborating with authorities, clients, and subcontractors, training personnel, providing instructions, and preparing HS plans. The work requires daily on-site presence at project sites and travel readiness. Projects start in summer 2026, and you can join from the early stages. Salary depends on your skills and experience. To succeed, you need experience in health and safety tasks from the construction sector, especially infrastructure or industrial projects, knowledge of legislation and authority requirements, ability to analyze safety data and draw justified conclusions, suitable education (construction or safety degree), fluent Finnish and English skills, and readiness to travel domestically. You are a natural leader who can inspire and guide your team, solution-oriented and decisive but people-focused. You understand the power of collaboration with various stakeholders.
