Read more: www.tuni.fi We are seeking a Vice Rector for the University of Tampere to strengthen the university's strategic leadership and develop research activities at the national and international levels for the period 1.1.2027–31.12.2031. As Vice Rector responsible for research, you will lead the university's research activities and their strategic development as part of the rector's office. In your role: Ensure high quality of research and support the achievement of the university's strategic goals Collaborate closely with the rector and other vice rectors (education, strategy implementation support, stakeholder cooperation, and partnerships) Monitor international research and higher education trends, national science policy, and related legislation, and oversee their implementation at the university Participate in the management team activities Lead university internal councils and preparatory groups related to research Actively represent the university in key national and international research and higher education networks. The specific responsibilities of vice rectors are decided by the rector in accordance with the university's rules of procedure. The position of Vice Rector is full-time and is appointed for the period 1.1.2027–31.12.2031. The work location is Tampere. Requirements To succeed in this role, you need: Doctoral degree and professor qualification Broad and diverse knowledge of the academic environment Knowledge of national and international research funding and science policy Strong, proven leadership experience in research or research organizations Understanding of research infrastructures, research funding, and research ecosystems Experience working within the international scientific community and building international research networks Ability to lead a networked and multidisciplinary organization Excellent collaboration and communication skills Proficiency in Finnish and English.
