Postdoctoral researcher and doctoral researcher positions in machine learning in Kaski Lab, Aalto University and Manchester - Aalto University - Helsinki, Finland

Samuel Kaski’s research group at Aalto University and the University of Manchester is seeking postdocs and doctoral students to work on AI fundamentals. The work involves developing probabilistic and collaborative AI, studying fundamental questions in machine learning such as uncertainty-aware inference, generative modeling, robustness, privacy-preserving learning, reinforcement learning, and user modeling. Candidates will join teams working on multimodal foundation models, out-of-distribution generalization, collaborative AI, and fundamental machine learning research. The positions are fully funded, with salaries starting from 4200€ for postdocs and 3100€ for doctoral students, based on experience. The work includes collaboration within ELLIS Institute Finland, FCAI, and international partners. Candidates should have a relevant doctoral or master’s degree, good English skills, and a solid background in mathematics, statistics, or computer science.
