Job Description

We are seeking a class teacher for Asemanpelto School for a fixed-term position from August 1, 2026, to July 31, 2027. Asemanpelto School is located in Lohja, 5 km from the city center. Next academic year, the school will have classes for grades 1-2, 3, 4-5, and 5-6. The school has approximately 80 students. There are 4 class teachers, 2 teaching assistants, a part-time language teacher, and a special education teacher. Daily collaboration occurs with class teachers, teaching assistants, and other staff. A mentor teacher from our school will be assigned to support and introduce you to your duties as a new member of our community. The school has a well-functioning student welfare team with whom you will collaborate. Your responsibilities include: - Managing classroom instruction (planned for grades 1-2) and communicating with guardians and stakeholders - Promoting development activities aligned with your interests and sharing responsibilities within the school community - Collaborating with your pedagogical team - Enhancing student well-being, actively monitoring learning outcomes, and developing your own work. The school's development focus areas are mathematics skills, environmental issues, and learning and working skills. The certificates should show the completed degree and qualifying studies (e.g., pedagogical studies 60 ECTS, multidisciplinary studies 60 ECTS, subject teacher qualifications 60/120 ECTS). The salary for qualified applicants ranges from €2,926.71 to €3,220.91 per month plus possible annual bonuses, according to OVTES. For primary education teachers in Lohja, a TVA compensation of €146.55/month is paid (Lohja-TVA). Additionally, class teachers receive €99.70/month or €55.38/month depending on the grade level taught. Other TVA compensations may also be paid when working for Lohja city. The position is subject to a trial period of half the employment duration. The selected candidate must present a health certificate from Keski-Uudenmaan Työterveys Oy, Lohja branch, within one month of starting employment, and a criminal background check as per law (504/2002).
