Job Description
The specialist doctor's role is to operate within the pediatric emergency services of the pediatric line as an internal substitute (sissi), with primary placement at the new children's hospital and Jorvi Hospital's children's emergency departments. The doctor also works on wards under the pediatric line. Successful performance of the duties requires good communication skills and the ability to work in multidisciplinary teams. Training of resident doctors is an important part of the tasks. The position includes on-call duties. A subspecialty in pediatric infectious diseases or significant experience in pediatric infectious diseases is considered an advantage. Teaching experience and training of resident doctors, pedagogical skills, and education are also considered advantageous. Medical research activity and a doctoral thesis are merits for the position. The children's and adolescents' disease departments at the New Children's Hospital (ULS) and Jorvi Hospital's children's emergency clinics are the largest children's emergency services in Finland. They operate as 24/7 emergency services according to emergency regulations, with a total of 70,000 visits annually. Specialties represented include pediatric medicine, pediatric surgery, pediatric neurology, child and adolescent psychiatry, and general medicine. Infectious diseases are the most common disease group. Pediatric specialists work as emergency physicians at ULS and Jorvi Hospital, guide patient flows, train and consult resident doctors (acute pediatrics and pediatrics), and investigate and treat patients in collaboration with the responsible nurse and care teams. Children's joint emergency services are training- and research-oriented workplaces. We require commitment to the continuous development of emergency services. Qualifications for the position: Specialist doctor in a relevant specialty with a medical doctorate, and licensed to practice medicine, or Specialist doctor in a relevant specialty with a medical license and authorized to practice medicine. The relevant specialty for this position is pediatric medicine. Language requirements include good oral and written skills in Finnish and satisfactory skills in Swedish, or good oral and written skills in Swedish and satisfactory skills in Finnish. We require vaccination against infectious diseases according to the Communicable Diseases Act for those working in patient and customer areas, and health status verification for those working in healthcare units. The selected candidate must present a criminal record extract as required by the Criminal Records Act (770/1993) section 6, subsection 2, concerning work with children.
