We are seeking a permanent special education teacher for Pikkola School, to work in the learning support special class starting from August 3, 2026. Pikkola School, located near Kangasala city center, is a middle school with approximately 700 students and about 80 staff members. Our staff satisfaction index is 4.6 (on a scale of 1-5), indicating a healthy and relaxed work community where you can teach and engage in various activities based on your interests, thanks to our diverse team structure. We are looking for an enthusiastic special education professional with good collaboration and interaction skills, flexibility, and a solution-oriented professional approach for the benefit of students. We expect a positive and developmental attitude towards special education. Experience in similar teaching at the middle school level is an advantage. The ideal candidate is an experienced and confident educator who actively participates in our special education team and networks, and can genuinely connect with students in any situation. You need good classroom management and teamwork skills, as well as: - Ability to engage early adolescents in broad learning - Proficiency in diverse teaching methods and flexible solutions - Competence in using ICT pedagogies in teaching - Experience with student conferences and support documentation - Versatile, student-centered pedagogical skills, and experience in middle school special education The class includes students with broad learning difficulties, with a maximum of 10 students, and is supported by a teaching assistant. Students are integrated into general education in some subjects, including arts and crafts. Salary and employment terms are based on the OVTES agreement. Teacher qualifications are determined according to the decree on the qualifications of education personnel (986/1998). The selected candidate must provide a criminal record extract related to working with children and youth (504/2002) and a health certificate within 30 days of the decision.
