Substitute for Upper Secondary School Guidance Counselor, Porkkala High School, Kirkkonummi - Kirkkonummen kunta - Kirkkonummi, Finland

We are seeking a guidance counselor for a fixed-term position from August 1, 2026, to April 7, 2027, as part of the three-member guidance team at Porkkala High School. We value experience in high school guidance work and a development-oriented approach that respects students. Good interaction and collaboration skills, as well as the ability and enthusiasm to participate in the school's community activities, are also required. We hope you have experience or interest in guiding and developing the high school peer mentoring program. The qualification requirement for the guidance counselor position is based on the Decree on the Qualifications of Education Personnel 986/1998, Section 11: 1) Higher university degree and, in addition to the degree, studies referred to in Government Decree 19 §:4 concerning university degrees or studies in educational sciences and teacher training as specified in the Decree 15 §:2; 2) Degree in educational sciences and teacher training as specified in Decree 15 §:1; or 3) The qualification specified in Section 15 §:1 of this decree. Salary and employment conditions are governed by the Municipal Sector Collective Agreement for Teaching Staff (OVTES). A four-month trial period will be used for the position. The selected candidate must provide a criminal record extract related to working with children, in accordance with Act 504/2002. Porkkala High School is a general upper secondary school with approximately 600 students located in the center of Kirkkonummi. In January 2027, we will move to the new Education House in Lyyra, together with the Swedish-speaking Kyrkslätt Gymnasium and Kirkkonummi Vocational Schools.
