Hairdressing Teacher / Vamia - Vaasan kaupunki - Vaasa, Finland

We are seeking a full-time hairdressing instructor at Vamia for the period from September 1, 2026, to July 31, 2027. The position involves teaching and guiding students in hairdressing and beauty care education, supporting their vocational studies. You will act as a teacher, mentor, and a safe adult for students, participating in planning, delivering, and evaluating instruction. The language of instruction is Finnish. Responsibilities include: - Teaching and guiding basic vocational qualifications in hairdressing and beauty care - Teaching, guiding, and assessing parts of the professional qualification in hairdressing - Supporting students individually and guiding their learning process - Supervising learning in the workplace and collaborating with industry employers - Planning, guiding, and assessing practical demonstrations - Planning, delivering, and evaluating teaching - Participating in teamwork and educational development. Qualifications are determined according to the decree (986/1998) on the qualifications of education personnel. Eligible candidates must have: - A higher education degree suitable for the teaching position as determined by the education provider - At least three years of practical work experience in tasks similar to the teaching content Deviations from the higher education degree requirement may be made if the teaching position requires particularly strong or specialized practical professional skills. In such cases, the applicant must have a relevant vocational qualification or other suitable degree or training, along with at least five years of practical work experience in similar tasks. Additionally, we require: - Strong and up-to-date professional skills in hairdressing - Experience in hairdressing work tasks - Ability to guide students individually - Good collaboration and interaction skills - Preferred qualifications include: - Pedagogical studies for teachers - Experience in vocational education or student guidance - Up-to-date work-life skills in hairdressing - Skills in makeup and beauty treatments - Entrepreneurial skills - Experience in supervising workplace learning - Good digital skills and ability to utilize them in teaching - Solution-oriented and development-focused approach - Ability to work with diverse learners - Enthusiasm for developing hairdressing education.
